This is so interesting. You havr commented that many modern acting students don't spend enough time thinking about the sounds when playing Shakespeare and it is certainly something I have noticed in some productions in which actors muffle their words or speak so rapidly that important words are lost. Perhaps this is because a lot of the work they do is aimed at training to work in Television or films?
Thank you Laura. 100% agree. Tv and film acting is a great skill, but it doesn’t have an awareness of sound in the way that is needed for classical text. I have noticed that younger students have less receptive ear for language too.
